Welcome to Lima! You will be picked up from the airport and transferred to your hotel. Enjoy the rest of the evening and have a good rest in preparation for the days ahead.
Today you will enjoy a city tour of the city of Lima. The tour will offer an exploration of Colonial Lima and its Historic city centre as well as a journey through the streets of modern Lima visiting the residential neighbourhoods of San Isidro and Miraflores.
Today you have an early start. You will be transferred from your hotel to the airport in time to take your flight to Arequipa. Upon arrival, you will have time to rest and explore this delightful city.
After breakfast you will start the tour of the city. You will visit Convento de Santa Catalina founded in 1579 as a cloister, you will have the chance to walk through its historic buildings as your guide takes you on a journey back in time through one of the largest holdings of colonial art in the Americas. The tour of the city will continue as you visit the highlights of Arequipa.
This is a half day private tour so you will have the rest of the day free.
Early in the morning, you will depart Arequipa to embark on a journey across a land of snow-covered volcanoes and inhospitable pampas as you leave Arequipa behind. Closer to the Colca Valley is the town of Chivay where the impressive system of platforms and terraces built by the ancient Collagua and Cabana inhabitants can be seen.
After lunch, you will make your way to the hotel. You will have the rest of the afternoon free to take advantage of the hotel’s amenities, enjoy the tranquility of your surroundings, or simply rest and recover for the next day.
After an early start and a light breakfast, you will travel to the Mirador de la Cruz del Cóndor (Condor Cross Lookout). With its incredibly vast and breath-taking expanses, it is considered to be the best spot in the world to see the majestic Andean Condor in flight. Be on the lookout for the sudden appearance of this emblematic bird on the verge of extinction. From this vantage point, you will be able to look out across one of the world’s deepest canyons (4,160 m deep at the northern end and 3,600 m deep on its southern end).
You will then continue onwards to Puno stopping along the way to enjoy the landscapes and visit the villages on the way. Before Puno is the Sumbay Bridge and a pass of 4 528 msnm.
Today you will enjoy a full day experience with Titilaka Lodge discovering the secrets of the lake and its people. According to a legend, it is from the waters of Lake Titicaca that the Incas originate. Before them, the Aymara people considered the lake holy.
In addition to its historic and spiritual significance, this area is also revered for its natural and pure beauty. The landscape is diverse and rich; from Titilaka’s shoreline, you can see terraced farmlands that run right up to the base of the surrounding snow-capped mountain chains as well as the islands of Titicaca.
After breakfast you will be picked up and transferred to the train station to take the train Andean Explorer Puno – Cuzco (Lunch included), which leaves at 08:00am.
Upon arrival in Cuzco you will be met and transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is free.
After enjoying breakfast you will start your tour of Cuzco, the Archaeological Capital of the Americas. History-filled alleys, churches, walls and archeological treasures await you in the magnificent Incan capital.
The journey toward Valle Sagrado begins at Awanakancha where you will learn about the various types of camelids (Llamas, Alpacas, Vicuñas, and Guanacos) that live in the Andes region. A few miles farther along, you will reach Pisac, a place where Incan and Colonial influences have reached a perfect balance , you will get a chance to explore this quaint town, famous for its artisan markets where you can find extraordinarily fine jewellery and ceramic and textile craftwork. After enjoying a lovely local lunch, the journey continues to the last remaining Incan towns, Ollantaytambo, which was once fiercely guarded by a massive fortress. Discover the large archeological complex of what used to serve as a wayside inn for royal delegations on long journeys.
You will then take the afternoon Vista Dome Train to Aguas Calientes, departing at 15:35 ad arriving at 17:00 (this journey to Machu Picchu will offer spectacular views along the way).
Rediscovered by Hiram Bingham more than a century ago, Machu Picchu is considered one of the Seven Wonders of the World. Its architectural beauty, spectacular natural landscapes and the energy held in its enigmatic structures will take your breath away.
You will follow in the footsteps of the ancient Incas as you explore this magical citadel.
Lunch will be enjoyed at the Sanctuary lodge before heading back to Aguas Calientes.
You will have the morning to enjoy at leisure in the fantastic surroundings of the Inkaterra Lodge before boarding the train back to Ollantaytambo at 13:35, arriving at 15:05. From there, your private transfer will take you to Cuzco (1.5 to. 2 hours drive). Rest of the afternoon/evening in Cuzco is free.
Today you will have a very early start. You will be picked up from the hotel in time for your flight to Lima (connecting with your international flights back home)
