Argentina
September 24: elimination of quarantine for Argentines, residents and foreigners who come for work and are authorised by the immigration authority.
October 1: authorization of entry of foreigners from neighbouring countries without isolation. Opening of land borders at the request of governors with safe corridors approved by the health authority.
Between October 1 and November 1 increase in the progressive entry quota in all safe corridors, airports, ports and land
November 1: entry of all foreigners is authorised
• The following will be requested to enter the country:
-Complete vaccination schedule, with the last application date at least 14 days prior to arrival in the country.
-Negative PCR test taken the 72 hours prior to shipment, or antigen at the point of entry as defined by the health authority
-PCR test on day 5 to 7 of arrival until defined by the health authority
People who do not present a complete vaccination schedule, including minors, must perform quarantine, antigen test upon admission, and PCR test on day 7.
At the time of reaching 50% of the completely vaccinated population: the antigen test will no longer be performed upon admission (except for those not vaccinated) and PCR on day 5-7 and the quota may be lifted. In this way, the impact of the increase in hospitalisations and deaths is minimised.
Patagonia is also known as ‘the gateway to Antarctica’. Most of Ice Track’s Antarctic expeditions leave from the Southern Argentine port of Ushuaia.
Botswana
Botswana Airports in Gaborone (GBE), Kasane (BBK) and Maun (MUB) reopened. Passengers must have a printed medical certificate with a negative COVID-19 PCR test result issued no more than 72 hours before departure. The certificate must be in English. Passengers are subject to medical screening upon arrival.
Canada
Effective 7 September 2021, fully vaccinated foreign nationals can enter Canada for discretionary travel. The US land border with Canada will remain closed to non-essential travel until at least 21 October 2021. From 7 January 2021 all air passengers traveling to Canada, who are five years or older, will be required to test negative for COVID-19 before boarding a flight to the country. Passengers must present evidence of a negative laboratory test result to their airline prior to boarding a flight to Canada. The test must be performed using a COVID-19 molecular polymerase chain reaction (or PCR) test and must be taken within 72 hours prior to the traveler’s scheduled departure to Canada. As of 5 July 2021, fully vaccinated travelers currently eligible to enter Canada (including Canadian citizens) will not be required to quarantine or complete a day-8 test.
Unvaccinated foreign nationals are banned from entering Canada except for essential reasons. Those who meet the exemptions may still be required to quarantine for up to 14 days. If you’re a foreign national (not a Canadian citizen or a permanent resident of Canada), you won’t be able to enter if you have COVID-19 symptoms.
Chile
Restrictions on all non-resident foreign visitors entering Chile have been extended to 30 June 2021. The only exception is for non-resident foreign nationals with specific permits or visas issued by a Chilean Consulate allowing you to enter during this specific period. All Chilean borders are closed. Plus, from 12 June 2021, quarantine restrictions will be in place in the entire Metropolitan Region including Santiago center and Santiago airport. Find out more at the Chilean Government Paso a Paso website. From 31 March, all travelers (including Chileans, residents and non-resident foreign nationals) must complete a mandatory 10-day quarantine on arrival. There are no exceptions, such as proof of the COVID-19 vaccine. You will not be able to leave quarantine early with a negative PCR. From 22 December, non-resident foreign nationals that have been in the United Kingdom during the last 14 days will not be allowed entry to Chile. From 31 December, all other travelers including Chileans, residents and non-resident foreign nationals have to complete a mandatory 10-day quarantine on arrival in Chile. After seven days of mandatory quarantine, travelers may take a PCR test, remaining in quarantine while awaiting the result. If the result is negative, quarantine may be lifted.
Patagonia is also known as ‘the gateway to Antarctica’. Some of Ice Track’s Antarctic expeditions leave from the Chilean Port of Punta Arenas.
Costa Rica
From 1 August, borders of Costa Rica borders have reopened to allow citizens and residents of some countries. Eligible travelers must fill out an epidemiological form prior to departure, meet visa requirements and purchase a travel insurance policy that covers COVID-19.
Ecuador
Check the requirements for entry. From 1 August 2021 travelers with proof of double vaccination received more than 14 days previously, can enter without mandatory insurance. All others will need to buy insurance with specific cover requirements. All travelers must complete an advance epidemiological information form.
Greenland
Travel to Greenland is open to residents of open countries, classified as yellow on Denmark’s government website. All eligible travelers must fill out a Sumut form and obtain a negative RT/PCR test result from a Scandinavian hospital, and the result must be no older than five days from the day you are tested.
Iceland
All travellers who wish to enter the Nordic Country of Iceland will be asked to provide proof of vaccination which must contain the specific COVID information Iceland requires. From 20 July 2021, travelers who have had a full course of the COVID-19 vaccine, the certificate will only be valid for travel to Iceland on or after the 15th day since your second vaccination (or from the single dose of the Janssen / Johnson and Johnson vaccine). From 26 July you will also need to present a negative PCR or antigen (rapid) test that is no more than 72 hours old before departing to Iceland. From 1 July, 14 days will need to have passed since your second vaccination (or the single dose of the Janssen / Johnson and Johnson vaccine) for the certificate to be valid for travel to Iceland. Fully vaccinated travelers (including those from the US) can enter Iceland without the need to be tested or undergo quarantine. However, travelers from outside the European Economic Area and Switzerland are not allowed if they have not been vaccinated and must pre-register and take two tests after arriving as well as quarantining for five days in between the two tests.
Kenya
From midnight 24 May 2021, all passengers/crew arriving from the UK must have a valid certificate for a negative COVID-19 PCR test taken no more than 96 hours before arrival in Kenya except children below 5 years of age.
Namibia
Until 15 July 2021, there is a nationwide curfew from 9pm to 4am. From 1 September, international travelers are permitted to enter Namibia through Hosea Kutako International airport. All non-Namibian travelers arriving in Namibia are required to present a negative COVID-19 PCR test result from their country of departure which is not older than 7 days. Non-Namibian travelers arriving with a negative result that is older than 7 days will be placed in quarantine and tested for COVID-19 on the same day at their own cost and will only be released if the results of this test return negative.
Norway
Entering the Nordic Country from 5 July, travelers from the UK will be required to quarantine at a suitable location for 10 days; a negative test may allow this period to be shortened. From 29 March, all travelers entering the country for non-essential reasons must complete a self-declaration form prior to arrival and spend the first ten days in Norway in a quarantine hotel. A negative PCR test taken no earlier than seven days after arrival may allow you to shorten your stay in the quarantine hotel. Entry to Norway is restricted. Anyone arriving in Norway from countries where the level of infection is high (marked as “red” on the map here) must self-quarantine for 10 days. If you arrive from a “yellow” area, you are exempt from quarantine.
Panama
Tocumen International Airport of Panama reopened to commercial flights on 12 October. Foreign travelers, residents and Panamanians must obtain a negative PCR COVID-19 test result within 48 hours of boarding their entry flight to Panama. Passengers who do not have a negative test result must undergo a rapid test at their own cost. Arrivals must sign a health declaration form.
Peru
Travelers who travel to Peru and have had two doses of a COVID-19 vaccine no longer need to present evidence of a negative COVID-19 test. The entry of foreign nationals who travel from India, South Africa and/or Brazil or who have stopped over in India, South Africa and/or Brazil in the last 14 calendar days and do not reside in Peru, is banned until 5 September 2021. Peru’s national State of Emergency has been extended until at least 31 August 2021. The country has been divided into a three-tier system of Very High, High and Moderate with different curfews for each. From 5 October, international flights with countries in the region have resumed at a limited capacity. Eligible passengers must submit a negative molecular test result, which has been performed a maximum of 72 hours before departure and sign a Declaration Jurada de Salud that agrees to comply with the mandatory 14-day quarantine and that you are symptom-free of COVID-19. The entry of foreign nationals who travel from Europe and South Africa or who have stopped over in Europe or South Africa in the last 14 calendar days, and do not reside in Peru, is banned.
Tanzania
All passengers arriving in Tanzania must present a negative COVID-19 PCR test certificate taken within 72 hours of arrival. All passengers must complete an online Traveller’s Surveillance Form submitted no more than 24 hours before arrival. All passengers will be subjected to enhanced screening for COVID-19 including a mandatory rapid test. If you test positive for COVID-19 on arrival, you will be required to self-isolate for 14 days.
Russia
The suspension of flights between the UK and Russia is extended until 1 June 2021. Restrictions on some international flights have been lifted, check with your airline for the latest measures in place. A negative COVID-19 test certificate dated less than 72 hours before travel is required. Self-isolation is required if you develop any symptoms of COVID-19. If you test positive for COVID-19, you must continue to self-isolate until you have recovered and produce a negative PCR test result.
